The Vacation That Never Was

My weeks of hiatus in blogging is probably the only proof a blogger ever need to finally wave the white flag and admit that she has indeed lost her mojo.

I’d no longer make promises that I’d be a better blogger this time around. Let’s just see how this will go. :)

As summer has officially begun a few weeks back, I decided to come up with a summer outfit that’s fit for office setting. I spend a great deal of my time at the office, which means, I don’t have the luxury of time to go on a vacay that much as compared to other people. However, being confined in the walls of my cubicle wouldn’t stop me from feeling (and wearing) the summer vibe. Thus, here you go!

Do you think this outfit fits the criteria for Bayo’s summer promo? If you haven’t read about that, read it up here! Two days left to join.

I know, I know, this isn’t too “summery,” but if you get the chance to wear this pair soft pants that I got from Bayo, you’d understand why this is a summer outfit on it own.

The thing is, I’m such a huge fan of soft jeans. This one has become an instant favorite because of its breathable, non-sheer material. The best part is, I got this at 50% off the last time I dropped by Bayo! You’d really score some amazing deals there, so I’d suggest you go ahead and grab their summer collection.

I’ve been a really lousy blogger the past weeks / months and I couldn’t even explain why. I should get my mojo back. :)

To start working on the mojo, here’s a simple monochromatic outfit for you guys. I missed wearing socks! So anyway, the idea is to come up with a “fun” outfit. However because I don’t want to look costumey (a big no, no) and ridiculous, I decided to tone down the fun by wearing neutral palettes. Kept it glam by donning gold and bronze accessories.

Top - Thrifted
Skirt - Hand-me-down
Shoes - Forever 21
Socks - Husband’s
Necklace - Forever 21
Bangle - Divi

There, a no brainer outfit, as a matter of fact. But I totally loved it! So nice to bring back the flats and socks combo! :D

Till next post, y’all. Happy weekend.

Somber as Black and White

Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.

Trend Exp: Camo

I’m not a trend-slave. You won’t find me digging the racks of my favorite stores whenever they release a new collection. I also don’t take what’s in or so last season too seriously. For me, style is everything. It doesn’t matter if I’m wearing something that’s no longer in the pages of the fashion magazines or no longer worn by people I admire in the fashion blogosphere. What matters is that I like what I’m wearing and I wear them right. If Andrew Zimmerman has this quote in Bizarre Foods, “If it looks good, eat it,” I live by “If it looks good (on me), I’d wear it.” :)

I’m just saying that I’m not a fan of striking the iron while its hot when it comes to trend. However, much like every girl (perhaps those who find themselves dipping their toes in fashion more often than others), I also find myself thinking of trying out trends just for heck of experience. I often take my time, think it through, and if I really want to try it, go for it.

Much like the case of trying out the camo trend, which has been going on since the last quarter of 2012.

The military trend is a risky one if I may say so. Simply due to the fact that not everyone looks good in wearing camouflage printed tops or bottom, some would come off trying hard while others may look costume-y.

Of course, I wouldn’t want to look neither of the two. Hence, I had to think thoroughly if I’d give this trend a try. Luckily, once-upon-a-closet-cleaning, I stumbled upon this camouflage pants from my sister.

Not sure if you guys can see it from the photos but this pair of pants has flowers on it as well. Camo + flowers, so I thought, why the hell not.

As if the camo printed pants wasn’t tough as it is, I decided to don a denim jacket. I never admitted this because I didn’t realize it until now, but I’m a sucker for denim jackets! I think they’re good alternatives in adding character to an ensemble.

Dress - Multiply.com
Blazer - Thrifted
Wedges - Gold Dot
Accessories - Charm bracelet & earrings, gift from US; Bangle, gift

Avoided reds, pinks, and other girly colors last V-day in an attempt to be a walking contradiction to what people would assume all girls would be wearing on that day.

However, I still kept the romantic vibe by wearing two floral printed clothes together (dress and blazer) and finished the look with these b&w lace-up wedges.

This day was a stressful day for me, not because my husband and I didn’t go out on date, but because of some issues at work.

Oh well, life and its uncertainties. Just hoping for better things ahead. :)
